To build a family is to change a generation

What does that mean exactly? Have you ever watched some one build a house? The more time, detail and love the builder puts into the home, the more it can with stand. When he just hastily slops some walls up, slaps some shingles on, the more likely it is going to fall apart.

The more time, detail and love you put into a family the longer it will stand and change the way your children view family and life.

I would never say that...

Have you ever read about one of the quote "bad girls" of the bible and thought, I could never do that, think that, or say that?  You know Eve and her bad self; taking the forbidden fruit  or sweet Sarah suggesting a second wife for Abraham.  How about Rebbecca and her tricking Isaac, then losing her favorite son because he has to run away in fear. What about Rachel stealing her Father's house idols?  Delilah cutting Sampson's hair or Bathsheba bathing naked on her roof top when her husband is away.  How about Job's wife telling her husband to curse God and die?
What about it? Have you ever wondered why it is so very important to guard your heart, or to be in God's word every day?  Is it just what bible thumping over zealous religious people do? After all those words don't apply to the rest of us "normal" Christians or do they?  Why would it be repeated in the bible so often, to be on your guard?  To watch out!  "Be on guard! Be alert! You don't know when that time will come." Mark 13:33  "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong."  1 Corinthians 16:13 It would be naive  to believe that sin and temptation are ugly and easy to spot.  Satan's original name was Lucifer- the most beautiful angel.  What makes you think his temptations are not going to be beautiful too?
God stresses over and over to guard your heart, but why our hearts?  "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." Proverbs 4:23 "And the peace of God, which will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 Our hearts are a direct look into our souls, our hearts are a reflection of who we are.  When we have an ugly attitude it wears right down in to our hearts.  When we rejoice, our love from our hearts bubbles out freely.
So just when you think life is the perfect excuse for not having quiet time.  Or skipping prayers here or there is okay, after all God understands.  Just remember who is crouching at your doorway ready, to kill, steal and destroy.
Who I became; Job's wife; although, I did not say it out aloud  I thought it in my mind.  I know exactly why Job's wife said what she said.  A year ago I, didn't understand how she could ever say something that wicked to a precious gift God had given her.  It happened because she was not being as faithful as she should to God.  Satan was waiting at her door.  You might say to yourself, what is the big deal, you thought it, you did not say it.  I did say it in my heart and the Lord God hears every thought before they are spoken.  I was so disappointed in myself for those thoughts.  After all my love is sharing his concerns with me and instead of wanting to lift him up, I was thinking I should destroy him, with the ugliness of my heart.  I also panicked, what became of Job's wife?  Even worse what am I to learn from this?  My lesson,  be careful and on your guard, stand firm in the Word. God's words are truth and his truth will set you free.
