Book 1. The Bible. Timeless classic, meant to last the ages and stands the test of time. The best war, book with epic battles. The ultimate Love story....He gets the girl. A book of wisdom and patients. A Must read!
Book 2. Raising a Modern Day Princess. In my quest to find just the right book for the "talk" which really is a life long talk, so don't wait. I found this one, while I have no doubt the class Raising a Modern Day Princess is really good. The book was a let down. 200 plus page add for the program. No how to's just why you should.
Book 3. Preparing Your Daughter for Every Woman's Battle byShannon Etheridge. This book is the exact opposite of book 2. This book was everything I was looking for and much more, for my girls and I. It not only cover Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) but what a princess, a daughter of Christ, behaves like in all aspects of her life.
Book 4: Captivating by John and Stacy Eldridge. Do you have a broken heart, spirit, or a deep whole in your heart? Find out how to fill it completely. By the ultimate physician.
Book 5: Daughters of Hope, by Kay Marshall Strom and Michele Rickett. Do you really know how lucky we are to have it, to live in America. Could you imagine living in constant fear of life because you are a Christian, a follower of Christ? In this book learn about some amazing women who live in hope in countries where death is the price of being a Christian.
Authors:
Francis Chan: His heart is on fire for the Lord with books full of challenges and advice. Check out his book: Crazy Love.
Timothy Keller: Another pastor/author, who loves the Lord and people. I have enjoyed his eye opening books: The Prodigal God and Counterfeit Gods.
John and Stacy Eldredge: Check out my review of their book, Captivating.
Movies:
Letters to God: Wow!! You are going to need a box of tissues, this movie is based on a true story. Which makes it all the better. A young boy has cancer and writes letters God, what do you do with physical letters to God? That is what the mail man was asking too. These letters are his prayers, watch prayers be answered and faith of a child change a community. This is a good movie for your whole family, with a lot to talk about afterwards.
How to Train Your Dragon, good family movie.
CD's:
Adventures in Odyssey- The Truth Chronicles: 5 hours of entertainment and conversation. My oldest has ate it up!!! In two days and I am sure many to come. What is it all about? World view. What is your worldview and what kind of worldview are your children learning and excepting? Worldview is how you view the world. Do you really believe that what you believe is really real?
Book Series for Children.
Nancy Drew/ Hardy Boys: Always a good inviting book for children 9 and up.
Tinker Bell books: Simple easy reads, good first "real chapter books" for your 1st or second grader. My oldest enjoys them still but can finish them in less than a day.
Eragon Series: This is a series about dragons, magic and war....so if you don't want your child to read about those things then don't give them these books. My oldest really has enjoyed the first three and is not so patiently waiting for book 4. These are good books for the child who always has a book in their hand. Instead of taking just a day or two it actually takes them longer to get through. Bonus.
Fairy Godmother Series: It is a new series and a fairly easy read about fairy godmothers in training.... They young girls around 13yrs old go to a magical land and have a quest to complete. So they can one day become a fairy godmother. Who hasn't dreamed of having one? Why dream having one when you could be one? These books are sweet and have a lot of postive messages through the books.
